Sata Andagi!
Site News
2004-12-01: Through the 50-60 work weeks and crazy holiday crowds, I'm updating all this fun stuff. First of all, December
MP3s are up. Second of all, a February 2027 update is shot down in favor of December 2004! Hooray! It's not much, but there's a new Azu fansite on the loose, and it's found a home in my
links section. Go check it out!
The other thing I'm doing is giving everybody an MP3 Christmas present as thanks for visiting my site in 2004! On the MP3 page is a link to a request form. Simply request an Azumanga Daioh song, and the song with the most votes will be posted as a bonus track in January! Wow, something new! Also, I promise that coming sometime soon will be a new feature and/or new content. I just need days off to work with. Please give me a day off for Christmas!
2004-11-01: November
MP3s up. I'm shooting for February 2027 as a target date to try and
update some section that's not MP3. Anyway, work work blah blah etc. Enjoy the music.
2004-10-01: MP3 Rotation for October is updated. Work still killing me softly.
2004-09-02: Okay, so I failed in my solemn goal to update before the end of the month, but work is beating me down. Anyway, two new
MP3s are up. Work should calm down soon, and I'm still interested in adding more content. I've got a couple ideas that I just have to execute on my free time. Here's to an update sometime this month!
2004-08-01: The
MP3 Rotation is updated for August. I've also got a new link on the
links page for the official Kagura fanlisting. Kagura fans rejoice and join! It's my solemn goal to try and update this site once between now and September, but working overtime every week, it's all I can do to not be incredibly lazy with my free time. Any suggestions for what this website needs? I'd like to hear it, so
e-mail me!
2004-07-01: It's been a while since the last update here, but work is very good at sapping any other motivation, isn't it? Regardless, I've buckled down and updated the
MP3 Rotation. I also have almost enough fan works to start a very small fan section of the site. I would like to put
your Azumanga Daioh fanart or fan writing on my
website, so
send it to me (remove the
capital letters from the e-mail address)!
2004-06-03: Well, what have we here? Six new journal icons (
2 Osaka,
1 Sakaki,
3 others), as well as Sata Andagi's first link button! Check
out the
links page for that. Comments, questions, feedback?
Mail me (Remove NO SPAM from the address) or
sign the guestbook!
2004-06-01: The June picks for the
MP3 Rotation page are up!
2004-05-24: A CALL FOR FANMADE MATERIAL! Sata Andagi!: An Azumanga Daioh Fansite is
currently looking for fans of Azumanga Daioh to contribute their works to the website! I hope to have a fan section up and
running within a couple weeks. If you've done fanart, fan fiction, or any sort of creative, Azumanga Daioh related material,
and you would like to see it on this site,
send me an e-mail! (Remove the
capital letters from the e-mail address.) Show off your love of Azumanga Daioh (as well as ours!) to the world!
2004-05-24: Added six more journal icons. Plus,
Yukari-sensei finally gets her own
page of journal icons to pacify her ego!
2004-05-07: Added a bunch of review links to the
links page.
2004-05-01: Updated the
MP3 Rotation page with two new MP3s from the Azumanga Daioh collection!
There's also one new
Osaka journal icon.
2004-04-22: After one week, Sata Andagi! has gotten almost 500 unique visits and is already on page three of a
Google search for "sata andagi." Furthermore, visitor statistics are showing that Azumanga Daioh is definitely a
worldwide phenomenon, with visits from at least fourteen countries! What an explosive start! Thanks to everyone for coming
to take a peek. Now I'll have to actually update! :D In that vein, I added a link to the
links page
and
an explanation of the website's name.
2004-04-14: Sata Andagi!: An Azumanga Daioh Fansite goes online! Welcome, everyone!
Azumanga Daioh News
2004-11-01:The 23rd of this month marks the last region 1 DVD release of Azumanga Daioh. Volume 6, featuring Maya pin and the last three episodes. Plus hopefully some extras. After this, what will I put in this section! Who knows.
2004-10-01: Volume 5 is still due to arrive on the 12th of this month, just 11 short days away! Also, the final volume of the region 1 ADV release of Azumanga Daioh is due to be released on the 23rd of November. The final three episodes, the Maya pin, and hopefully some more extras.
2004-09-02: Volume 4 is out! This disc has five episodes, so that means one of the remaining discs will only have three. And hopefully that one will have the Very Short Movie on it, as well! Anyway, this is now old news, but Volume 5 of the region 1 ADV release of the series is due to arrive on October 12. This puts the last DVD to street date around the end of November. And then what will us Azumanga freaks do?! Oh, we'll pray for a
Yotsubato! anime.
2004-08-01: Volume 4 of the region 1 DVD release is still due on the last day of August, but I have not yet found a release date for volume 5. I'm going to guess sometime in the middle of October. By the way, my Neco Coneco pin is resting
comfortably with my Chiyo-chan pin on the little piece of cardboard they put in the Vol. 1 w/box release. My Kamineko pin has been on my lanyard at work since I got the box. Still no comments, though. :(
2004-07-01: Still no word on the release date for volume 5 of the region 1 DVD release of Azumanga Daioh, but the good
news is that the series is looking to be a hit in America so far. Both the second and third discs are on the
Amazon.com Early Adopter Anime & Manga list (third disc at #2, second disc at #5).
2004-06-01: Look forward to August 31st! It's been designated as the release date for volume 4 of the region 1 DVD
release through ADV Films. This volume is entitled "Friends." By the way, volume 3 will be titled "Rivals." I'm excited
that these are coming out on such a quick schedule!
2004-05-24: The Azumini talked about in the last update is just nothing more than the first episode released by itself
on DVD. Quite a few other ADV films "Mini DVDs" are being released the same way. So darn. Oh well. In other Azumanga news,
the June 2004 issue of Newtype USA (Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex cover) has another little write-up on the anime
series that includes a few words with the series organizer, Kazuki Okochi.
2004-05-10: July 20th is the street-date for the third DVD in the region 1 release. I just found that out today. Also, a
DVD called "
"Azumini"
is coming out on June 15th. It is region 1 and has a list price of $6.98. The run time is 25 minutes, so I'm guessing that
it may be the "Very Short Movie," along with a couple extras. If anybody knows anything more about this item, please
e-mail me!
2004-05-07: Volume 2 of ADV's DVD release of Azumanga Daioh, "Festivals," is street-dating June 8th. Also, as I
type this, it's currently number 2 on
Amazon.com's Early Adopter Anime & Manga sales list. Basically, that means Vol. 2 is the second hottest
selling new anime/manga item coming soon. Azumanga power, ne?
2004-05-01: The region 1, volume 1 DVD of Azumanga Daioh was released this past Tuesday, and I just got mine in the
mail. The box version contains Chiyo and Kamineko pins, with the promise of a Neco Coneco pin in volume 3, a Chiyo Chichi
pin in volume 5, and a Maya pin in volume 6. There is a twelve page booklet included with the DVD that explains cultural
Japanese references and has creator commentary and Chiyo-chan and Chihiro art. I am very satisfied with the whole package,
though I always want more extras on the DVD than what there is.
2004-04-24: Azumanga Daioh received a glowing review in the new issue (May 2004, Gundam SEED cover) of Newtype USA
magazine. A couple of snippets: "
...this good-natured comedy is so gosh-darn lovable that you can't help but want to give
it a hug." "
You might even find yourself rooting for these gals with an enthusiasm you'd have a hard time mustering for
a traditional anime hero squaring off against some world-devastating evil." Hooray, Newtype USA, for recognizing great
anime!
2004-04-14: The last Azumanga Daioh manga is due to be released on April 20th, though you can already find it in many
bookstores. The first DVD street-dates on April 27th, so look for it soon!
2004-04-14: Pre-order the first Azumanga Daioh DVD at
